‘There’s nowhere else like London. Nothing at all, anywhere.’ Vivienne Westwood
At the beginning of December my man and I spent a gorgeous weekend in London. We shopped, walked, took photos and enjoyed an indulgent afternoon tea at Sketch.
The afternoon tea included an assortment of finger sandwiches, scones, a coconut and praline lollipop, a salted butter caramel macaroon, a lemon meringue tartlet, a chestnut and cranberry tartlet, a chocolate eclair, orange blossom and passion fruit marshmallows and a Greek yogurt mousse with blackcurrant marmalade. It was amazing, and I very nearly had to be airlifted out of the restaurant!
We stayed at the Hilton, Kensington – the one by the Oxford Tube stop – which proved handy when weighed down with Christmas shopping bags on the way home. I have to say it was great to be near Westfield because I finally got to see inside. We had a candlelit dinner at Bill’s and an evening stroll – in a shopping centre! What can I say, it was cold, and it was romantic to watch people on the ice rink. Very Rockefeller Centre.
Nothing beats London at Christmas. I love the streets and shop windows, and I think this could turn into an annual fixture.
