Bright Bazaar by Will Taylor
My book of the year so far has to be Will Taylor’s Bright Bazaar, and if you’ve not yet come across Will he writes a stylish interior blog of the same name.
Will’s book is full of inspirational interior ideas set out in colour themes, each one inspired by the world around him. I love how he translates the colours from his travels into interior themes, after all what could be better than basing your home on your favourite holiday? I adore books that feature real people’s homes, and Bright Bazaar includes new images of homes from all over the world – even Will’s – on the cover.
With its funky stripy cover and yellow edged pages it’s a great object to have out on display. Nothing like a bit of interior inspiration and an object for home staging rolled into one. Pure genius!
So, if you fancy an explosion of colourful interior inspiration do pop over to Amazon for your copy. You may also like to read about when I attended the Annie Sloan paint workshop at Home Barn with Will. Yep, I’ve been hanging out with celebrities!
Das ist gut!
I’ve finally found a little time to photograph some of my recent gifts, and by recent I mean Christmas. Where does the time go?
These adorable vintage German toys were a gift from my Mum, and the cute pink camera was from my man. I’ve lots more goodies to snap so do watch this space.
New York City
I’ve just spent five fun packed days in a rather sunny New York City. I was there on business and although I had many work commitments I did manage to squeeze in a fair bit of fun time, as those who follow me on Instagram will have seen. I’ve said it before but I think New York is like Disney World for adults, and I for one will never tire of its magic. Ice cream anyone?
There are few things prettier than a flowering tree, and this seems to be the month of beautiful blooms. Blossom buds and blooms in what seems like a matter of moments, then covers the ground like wedding confetti. Absolutely breathtaking!
Charles and Ray Eames
As part of my midlife crisis (*cough* I turn 40 in July) I’ve been obsessing over Eames furniture, I guess there are worse addictions. I purchased the Eames DSR chairs and the occasional table when I bought my first apartment in 2003 so it’s a long time since I splurged!
Anyway, after a delivery this week I now have the Eames rocker and plywood lounge chair (dubbed the greatest design of the 20th century by Time Magazine) sitting stylishly in my living room. My man and I are already fighting over who sits in the rocker, and I’m pretty sure my niece will enjoy having a little rock when she visits tomorrow.
All my chairs were produced by Vitra, the only company in Europe licensed by the Eames estate, no fakes for me! Vitra products are available from Aram, Central and John Lewis, I must add John Lewis delivered my rocker free of charge and also priced matched Aram who had a sale on.
Colourful Vintage Birds
Now I seem to have acquired every kitsch deer known to man I’ve moved onto birds. As you do. These colourful little fellas make me smile, and luckily, in support of my new minimal lifestyle, they are quite rare.
Because who can resist chocolate eggs, fluffy chicks, cute bunnies and a roast dinner with the family? Yes please!
Anyway… I must get on, I have some eggs and chicks to hide for my niece’s Easter egg hunt tomorrow. How exciting! Happy Good Friday and I hope you have a wonderful Easter holiday.
