CAMBRIDGE: THE OTHER PLACE
I didn’t want to like Cambridge, after all I live in Oxford. But there was something about the Colleges, narrow lanes, bikes, tea rooms and general Britishness, that took me back to the early 90’s, when I first discovered Oxford, and later fell in love.
I don’t think Cambridge liked me, it sent a bucketload of rain (hence the greyness of these shots), took away my phone signal, sent me up the wrong road while looking for my accommodation and put me in a haunted room at Clare College – old room, flickering lights etc. But I’m forgiving, and after meeting blogger Briony for Earl Grey and lemon drizzle, I was already planning my next visit.
My Cambridge experience reminded me of what I love about historic university cities and how inspiring they can be. I will return – just don’t tell Oxford!
