DIY Patchwork Papercut Bookmark & Free Digital Editon of Mollie Makes

5th January 2015

I’m delighted to be taking part in a Mollie Makes DIY. My task was to make something using the items from this month’s cover gift pack.

Having spent much of 2014 with my head in a book I decided to make myself a patchwork papercut bookmark. It’s already had a lot of use and so if you’d like to make one here is my simple DIY.

Bookmark

To start you’ll need this month’s edition of Mollie MakesΒ magazine (issue 49) which includes a patchwork needle case kit, available in UK newsagents from Friday 9 January.

Grab a pencil and draw your bookmark on card (I chose white but you may prefer a colour), and arrange your hexagon templates.

Bookmark

Draw around the templates.

Bookmark

Using a blade carefully cut out the bookmark and templates.

Bookmark

With scissors cut out some small squares of fabric and attach them to the inside of the bookmark. They can be fixed with sellotape or glue.

Bookmark

Fold and stick the bookmark closed. Make a hole with a hole punch to fix the ribbon at the top.

Bookmark

Share your bookmark on social media using the hashtag #molliemakers. Proceed to the sofa with good book and put your feet up!

I love it! I like to read, and I'm a beekeeper, so I love hexagons! Especially on a bookmark ( or maybe a warm, snugly crocheted afghan!)

Ps. I sent a comment before this one, but don't know what happened to it.
