I love mantras because they tend to combine our values and goals. And by simplifying them into bite-sized chunks they’re easier to remember. Like little markers of positivity.
Roughly speaking, our values help us to make choices. They guide us through the difficult times and give us meaning. They’re so ingrained in our being we usually don’t have to think about them. They may include things like ‘family and friends are more important than work’ and ‘I must always be kind to others.’
Our goals are what we hope to achieve and they provide direction. They could cover anything from starting a business to running a marathon. And I believe they should be flexible, to prevent us from setting our sights too high or too low. In short, our goals stop us aimlessly drifting!

It’s easy to get swept away by the paths, dreams and goals of others. By taking a moment to slow down we can make space to hear what’s truly in our hearts.

We all have something unique to bring to the table and I think it’s healthy to celebrate our differences. Never feel that your opinions, values or goals are wrong because they differ to the masses. Life would be boring if we were all the same.
Pause to enjoy how far you’ve come
Many of us travel through life without stopping to enjoy how far we’ve come. While it feels good to set targets and goals, it is equally important to pause and celebrate successes. Taking a moment to acknowledge achievements makes us feel energised and ready to continue our journey.
Be grateful for everything you have
I think it’s safe to say we’re all striving for happiness and one of the simplest ways to find it, is by being grateful and content in the present moment. Loving and accepting what we have generates feelings of gratitude and joy.

After taking a week offline I experienced the amazing benefits of switching off. Scrolling through news feeds consuming an algorithm biased reality is not how I want to spend my time. Words on paper are like medicine for the mind. And few things are as calming and inspiring as curling up with a good book.
Everything in life comes and goes
When I’m feeling stressed and overwhelmed I think about how I’ll feel in the future. Is my current situation something I’ll think about? Have I got through bigger problems? And if this were my last day on earth would I even care? Everything is moving forward and this moment will never be the same again.
